AFS Helps Raise More than $37,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Association

CHESAPEAKE VA., July 22, 2010 Accelerated Financial Solutions (AFS) helped the Hampton Roads Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) raise more than $37,000 by participating in the MDA’s Most Wanted Telethon Lock Up fundraiser on July 15.

For the MDA event, AFS employee Ashley Houston was voluntarily “arrested,” along with corporate representatives from companies throughout the Hampton Roads area. Houston and the other ‘Most Wanted’ were taken to the MDA Lock Up at the Governor Dinwiddie Hotel in Portsmouth, VA.

While “behind bars,” Houston and the other arrestees participated in a telethon to raise donations for the Hampton Roads MDA chapter. Helping Houston in her fundraising efforts were AFS executives Josh Tawes, CEO, and Anthony Stile, COO.

“AFS has participated in the MDA’s Most Wanted Lock Up for several years, and we were thrilled this year to know that we helped them exceed the money raised in 2009 by several thousands of dollars,” said Tawes.

“The funds Houston and the other volunteers raised from the telethon goes to support local families suffering from one of 43 neuromuscular diseases that MDA encompasses,” said Stile. “AFS is pleased to support our community by working with such local worthwhile organizations as Hampton Roads MDA chapter.”
